Age - Old Tales

My grandmother, despite being one of the kindest people I’ve ever met, suffered a lot during her last years. Her predicament got me thinking about old age in general. It occurred to me that our fast-changing milieu is throwing up previously unimagined challenges to our senior citizens. Subconsciously, I started writing stories in which my primary protagonists were either retired or about to be. Each story became an opportunity to explore a distinct angst.

The resultant collection of short stories – titled Age-old tales – won the Oxford Bookstore e-Author contest in 2008. You can download the book for free here.

I wrote these stories under a stiff deadline, even as I was focusing primarily on jobs far removed from literature. Even if I say so myself, most of these stories are quite readable.
